GENERAL DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries exists for the purpose of assisting the Children Ministries Director of the Church.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a willingness to adhere to the guidelines of The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church. The Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries works closely with the Children’s Director, Nursery Staff, Sunday School Teachers and other Children Ministries volunteers, to provide meaningful and effective ministry to children. This position will represent the Children’s Director during scheduled vacations, absences due to illnesses, etc. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 10 hours of service each week. It is understood that this is not an hourly position and the duties could on occasion exceed ten hours per week.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries works under the supervision of the Children’s Director and functions as a member of the CCUMC staff team, assuming responsibility for his or her own assignments and supporting other staff.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Director of Children’s Ministries with the following:
1. Recruiting, training, managing, and motivating volunteers for all Children Ministries programming.
2. Maintaining accurate records for Children’s Ministries volunteers.
3. Selecting and purchasing curriculum materials and educational tools for the ministries programs.
4. Developing and implementing comprehensive Children Sunday School and Children Worship programs.
5. Maintaining accurate records and attendance with the children’s programs and events.
6. Developing and coordinating Outreach programs such as:
- Wednesday Mid-weeks program
- Night in Bethlehem
- Vacation Bible School
- Jerusalem Market Place.
7. Maintaining materials and the facilities used by the Children’s Ministry.
8. Maintaining accurate records of the Nursery Staff.
9. Training and motivating the Nursery Staff.
10. Maintaining and updating the church’s nurseries.
11. Attending regular staff and council meetings, trainings, and workshops with the director as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
All staff members are directly accountable to the Lead Pastor, subject to annual evaluation by the Lead Pastor, and reviewed by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
