New Adult Small Group and Fellowship Opportunities

SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERINGS

  • 8:30 a.m. “Chrysalis Class” (in the Adult Classroom). Studying The Life & Ministry of the Messiah. Pack your bags. We’re going on a journey. A quest to uncover Scripture and its meaning across history. We will go to Israel and throughout the Middle East, in an adventure in biblical learning. We will discover why Jesus turned the world upside down with his compelling call to follow him.
  • 10:00 a.m. “Good News Class”  (in the Adult Classroom).  A Bible Study on Exodus.
  • 10:00 a.m. “God’s Gift Class” (in the FLC Loft).  Studying Who You Are When No One's Looking by Bill Hybels.  We all do our best when others are watching.  But what about when no one is looking?  That's where character comes in:  Courage.  Discipline.  Vision.  Endurance.  Compassion (Tender Love/Tough Love).  Self-sacrifice (Sacrificial Love/Radical Love).  The qualities discussed in this study provide a foundation for character.  With this foundation and God's guidance, we can maintain character, even when we face temptations and troubles.
  • 11:15 am Adult Sunday School Offering.  Have you heard the broadcast news lately?  Did you know there are “experts” predicting the “end of time” will occur in the year 2012?  Should you be concerned? How should Christians respond?  What is apocalyptic literature, and why is it in the Bible?

The book of Revelation can be beautiful, bizarre and even frightening at times.  Find out what God is saying to Christians in the Bible and what that means for YOU.  Please join a video based Bible Study beginning March 6 at 11:15am in the Adult Classroom.  We will study Breaking the Code: Understanding the book of Revelation by Bruce Metzger, acclaimed Princeton Bible scholar. This 8 week study will be led by Candice Bennett, a United Methodist Certified Christian Educator.

  • 11:15 a.m. "The Holy Spirit Has Arrived" (Adult Classroom)
  • The Holy Spirit “arrived” with fire and the rush of wind on Pentecost, but what really is the Holy Spirit?  What does it mean to me?   Join the 11:15 am Sunday School class as we begin a study of the book of Acts with author Justo Gonzalez and led by Candice Bennett, a United Methodist Certified Christian Educator.  We will be examining the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives by examining the lives of the apostles after Jesus’ resurrection.  We celebrate Pentecost in May, so why not delve into the mystery that surrounds this aspect of the holy Trinity?  We begin this study on May 8.

  • MONDAY NIGHT OFFERING - Beginning January 17th at 7pm, Pastor Fran will lead a 10-week study entitled Longing to Belong.  This is a study especially designed for new-comers that explores the importance of community in the Christian faith.  Themes include:  How Do We Find Our Place? (Baptism), What Are We Hungry For? (Communion), What Happens When We Pray Together? (Prayer), What’s the Deal With Miracles? (Signs and Wonders), What Do We Have in Common? (Stewardship), How Can We Remember Who We Are? (Worship), Hoe Can WE Open Our Lives to Each Other? (Hospitality), How Can We Get Along When We Are So Different?
