Courthouse Community United Methodist Church

The Music Ministry at Courthouse Community is a growing force in our weekly worship.  We have many opportunities for all ages of our congregation, from Pre-Schoolers through adults, and we welcome your participation.  All three of our worship services are blessed with beautiful music, and we give thanks for our dedicated musicians in our Adult Choir and Ensemble, Handbell Ensemble, Praise Bands (Sunday and Saturday nights), Children’s Choir, Children’s Choir Chimes. 

 

 

Musical Opportunities

 

Children’s Choir

Director: Joyce Brockhausen

All children from Kindergarten through 5^th grade invited.  This Choir sings every other month in church, and performs musicals each year, as well as singing for other special events, such as Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday, etc.  Meet in the Choir Room on Sunday 6:00 – 6:45 pm  (does not meet in the summer)

 

Children’s Chimes

Director: Joyce Brockhausen

Any children grades 2-5 will be able to participate in this unique musical group.  Choir Chimes are individual melody instruments, very much like Handbells.  It is important to have each and every child attend all rehearsals, as each child is responsible for playing specific notes.  Meet in the Choir Room on Sunday 6:45 - 7:30 pm (does not meet in the summer)

 

Adult Choir (Adults)

Director: Chrissy Dunavan

The Adult Choir and Ensemble is a very dedicated group of singers who wish to share their love of God through song.  Rehearsal is on Thursdays from 7:30 – 9:00 pm and they sing at the 8:30 a.m. service.  This group also sings at special services, such as Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Easter, Advent Night, Lenten services, and for Cantatas.  Childcare is provided for these rehearsals.

 

Adult and Youth Handbell Choir 

Director: Chrissy Dunavan

This group of ringers meets every Thursday from 6:30 – 7:30 pm and prepares musical offerings for periodic worship services and special events such as Christmas Eve and Easter.  Members are asked to commit to attending all rehearsals, as each ringer is responsible for individual notes.  If you can count to 4, you can play handbells!

 

 

Praise Teams

Our Bands are comprised of many talented musicians who give of their time, so that God may be glorified through music.  If you play an instrument, which lends itself to contemporary music, you may want to join up.

 

            Saturday Evening Service Praise Team

Director:       Dani Kopf

Rehearses each Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm, and then offer their musical gifts during the 5:00 Saturday evening service.  Childcare is provided for these rehearsals.

 

            Sunday Morning Service Praise Team

Director:       Joyce Brockhausen & Gretna Smith

Rehearses each Wednesday at 7:45 pm and again on Saturday morning at 9 am, and then offer their musical gifts during the 9:45 and 11:15 Contemporary worship services.  Childcare is provided for these rehearsals.

 

Praise Youth

Director:         Carl Peake

Teenage, Christian, contemporary band for instrumentalists and vocalists in grades 6-12.  Meets on Sundays from 4-6 pm in the Sanctuary.
